We admit on a rolling basis until the founding group, under 10 students, is full.
A child with genuine curiosity: deep interests, strong opinions, or an intensity that standard school hasn't known what to do with
A reliable way to communicate, whether speech, typing, or another consistent method
The capacity to be present in a small group setting safely, for the child and for the community around them
A family who wants a genuine partnership: not a service provider, but a co-designer of their child's learning
We also want to know what has been hard, not just academically but how school has felt for your child. That context matters as much as any assessment or diagnosis
Saying yes isn't the finish line. Before your child's first day, there's one more conversation, and it's the most important one. It's not the admissions visit, and it's not paperwork you fill out alone.
Once enrolled, we schedule a separate meeting before the first day, just for this. Not the tour, not the admissions conversation. This one is about where we're headed.
The guide, you, and your child, together. Your child isn't discussed, they're part of the conversation about their own learning from the very first meeting.
What comes out is your child's Learning Map: what they already love, what hasn't worked, and what a great first stretch looks like for them specifically.
By the time your child walks in on day one, they're not starting cold, and they're not being sorted into a plan made about them without them. They already know where they're headed, because they helped chart it. The guide keeps their Learning Map alive all year: it's revisited every term, and it's the same starting point their portfolio and progress build on.
A group under ten students, an expert guide, and a model built around each child. Once we are approved for Florida’s scholarship programs, FES-EO and FES-UA can offset part of this for qualifying families.
Berek Fano is a small, intentional community. A child who isn't the right fit doesn't just affect their own experience; it affects every other student's. If after our conversation and visit day we don't think this is the right place for your child, we'll say so clearly, and we'll do our best to point you toward something that is. We'd rather lose an enrollment than get a placement wrong.
